    Handyperson Service - 020 3326 9432


    The Handyperson service offers practical help with minor safety adaptations, repairs and DIY-style tasks around the home. We aim to ensure that you are able to remain safe and secure within your own home.

    The Handyperson Service Team is made up of staff and volunteers who work together to make a difference.  All staff and volunteers are trustworthy, reliable and carry Age UK ID. They will also provide all the necessary tools to complete the job.

    What kind of jobs do we do? 
     •Changing light bulbs fuses and plugs
     •Putting up shelves, hanging pictures/mirrors
     •Fitting key safes and grab rails
     •Fitting locks, spy holes and door chains
     •Replacing broken light fittings
     •Replacing toilet seats
     •Repairing curtain rails
     •Fitting draught proofing
     •Moving furniture
    • Decluttering and loft clearance
    • Assembling flat pack furniture
     •Installing telecare equipment (a combination of alarms, sensors and other equipment to help people live independently)

    First Contact telephone helpline
    First Contact provides information and advice for older people in  Richmond upon Thames borough. We advise on a range of issues, from housing, money matters to finding a reputable local supplier.
    A telephone advice line is open Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 4.00pm. The line is manned by an advisor, who can answer queries, provide information and advice, and signpost to other agencies

    IT Home Tuition
    Learn how to get the most out of your computer in your home

    • Help with computers and PCs - tuition on email, use of the internet, filing and working with attachments.

     

    Gardening Service
    Do you need help with keeping your garden tidy?  We cut grass and prune shrubs on a regular or one-off basis at affordable prices. 

    Housekeeping Services
    Our Housekeeping Co-ordinator will carry out a home visit assessment to discuss the service and to work out a suitable plan to meet your housekeeping needs.
      The range of housekeeping services we offer are:  
     •Housework (dusting, hoovering, cleaning, bed making, kitchen and bathrooms)
     •Laundry
     •Shopping
     •Prescription collection
     •Preparing light snacks
     •Other assistance may be possible as agreed between the client and the co-ordinator
     
    The Housekeeping Co-ordinator will then arrange a suitable housekeeper who has been reference checked and has a DBS clearance.
     
    All our housekeepers are highly skilled and reliable.  We operate an intense induction and training programme for all housekeepers.  In addition we only recruit staff with a high competency level and a drive for excellence.

    Community Services
    Community ServicesWe provide opportunities Borough wide to help improve lifestyle, build companionship and learn new skills. 


    We also provide information and advice on how you can get more involved in your community and find activities that suit you.

    Welfare Benefits advice
    Age UK Richmond upon Thames works with the Adult & Community Services Department of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. This service provides advice on welfare benefits and also on other services concerning people over state pension age that may improve their quality of life.

    Moving Home Service
    Thinking of moving home?  Not sure where to start? You will be pleased that help is at hand.  We are working in partnership with Seamless Relocation to provide practical support to help you move home.
    Whether to a smaller more manageable property, sheltered accomodation, care home, rented or owned property, we can take care of everything to help you move on. 

    New Nightingale Service
    Our new Nightingale Service provides support to people over the age of 65 living in the Borough on their return home from hospital. 
    The type of support we offer is wide ranging and depends on the persons specific needs, but includes for example, shopping, help around the home with housework or handyperson jobs, assistance with managing money, such as welfare benefit checks and applying for grants for essential items.
