    I had the pleasure of finding Claudettes company to carry out gardening work for my parents in their 80s. Claudette and her team were friendly, caring, professional and efficient.

    My parents felt safe and comfortable in the company of the team, who took time to listen, and were respectful of the requests, and direction given. Claudettes team did not leave until all of the work was carried out to satisfaction and left my parents feeling, very happy with the work and the company.

    I’m so glad that I got Johnson Property services to work on a project in the basement area of my clinic. Claudette was highly professional and extremely trustworthy. I was away on a short break while Claudette and her team promptly worked and kept me updated so I enjoyed my break without any concerns about the work.     I hired Johnson Property Services to entirely remodel a two-bedroom apartment in Central London and couldn't be happier. The apartment wasn't remodelled since early 1990s so everything had to be redone. Claudette and her team repainted and fixed all the walls + ceilings, removed old carpet and installed new wooden flooring, redid all of the electrics (sockets, switches, consumer unit, adding new fused switches for all appliances), upgraded the boiler and all of the plumbing, redid an entire bathroom with tub, installed a new kitchen. The experience was very easy and pleasant even though I was not in country during the renovation. Claudette was very accommodating and kept me in the loop with work progress by sending pictures of the work regularly. I would recommend her to anyone looking to hire a contractor.

    We are absolutely delighted to have discovered Johnson Property Services through the Age UK Business Directory. Its owner, Claudette Johnson was outstandingly helpful, trustworthy, reliable, competent and empathetic at a moment of family crisis involving an ill relative whose home needed work at very short notice. Claudette and her team, covering all the trades, worked tirelessly to get things right to enable hospital discharge.     We used Johnson Property Services for a number of small repairs, some adaptations and some tiling. I would thoroughly recommend them, Claudette offered advice from the outset and gave a comprehensive, good value for money quote based on our discussions. We was very pleased with all the work that was carried out and found Claudette and her team really friendly, polite and helpful.     Claudette was extremely helpful fixing our storm damaged trellis and fence. They repaired everything so it was almost as good as new. They tidied afterwards and were most courteous throughout. I would definitely use again and I have no hesitation in recommending.

    Restoration of a 30 year old conservatory - A complicated contract that involved specialist glazing sub contractors. Initial quote was fine, there were additional works and costs as a result of the carried out but his was fine as communications was always good.     I am responding to the comments left by Anita Davidson -

    Paving Mortar Joints -

    Due to the age and the recent power washing by the Client, some of the joints are broken and have been washed away. The Client is not concerned about the cracks, just the obvious open/worn joints.

    - remove the larger sections of mortar and fully clean joints
    - then apply adhesive to all areas that will be filled
    - using mortar, mix and fill joints

    The areas concerned were - 1. Front pathway, 2. Back patio area and 3. Back of garden - paved area, these paving slabs were dislodged and not level due to age and the tree roots lifting the paving slabs.

    This was the spec for the task.

    The Client has written about her mother (88 yrs old) to assume her mother was not able to tell us she was not happy with our works on the day, this was not true, her mother on the day, was happy,and as we worked, was near us hanging clothes on the line and talking to us and on completion, she did not phone her daughter (The Client), to say she was unhappy, nor did she hesitate in any way when she paid.

    Yes The Client did call and say she was not happy. The total cost of these works was £330.00 and in the end, I refunded the Client £150.00, so she should be happy that this was so.

    Not all Clients will be happy and in our case JPS, this is one complaint out of 33!

    Our works cover full Kitchen and Bathroom renovations, Fencing, shed installation, decking, paving, so to say, we cannot be trusted to fit a washing line is low.

    Everyone has the right to complain and this we agree with.

    So on this note I will close our response to this Client.

    I was extremely disappointed with this company. The job was to fill in all the gaps on 3 patios where the cement had come out over the year. I explained exactly what I needed doing. After a few missed starting dates (it was said because of the weather, which I accepted) the work finally started. By 2pm the Owner and a workman said that they had finished (even though when they quoted she said it would take 4 days!!!!). My Mother phoned me to say it looked messy. As I wasn't on site, there was nothing I could do than to ask my Mother (88) to pay the people, and I would look at it when I came home from work. However, I have never seen such a mess in all my life. I could have done a better and neater job. There was cement all over the place, which also went over all the patio slabs. I phone to say that I was not at all happy and asked her to come back to inspect with me. Unfortunately it took over a month to get this done. It finally happened after many many phone calls. In the end I asked for 50% of my money back as it just wasn't worth the money that we had paid, and trying to get the job redone was becoming impossible. I will now have to get someone else to put right the mess that they made. This company is NOT professional, take ages to start a job, doesn't do it with skill....and doesn't communicate when it all goes wrong (in the end she refused to answer my calls). I would definitely NOT employ this company to do anything except put a washing line up....and then Im sure they would make a mess of that too!!!!

    I’ve not yet fixed up anyone to do my job (I’m waiting to hear from surveyors who missed what might be a dangerous electrical installation) but I can’t praise Claudette too highly for her care and cheerfulness in explaining and coping with my oldie techie inadequacies! I’d have no hesitation in checking out this company - if their electricians are half as good as their receptionists they’ll be top notch.
    Still adjusting to London prices which are eye-watering!

    I received excellent service from this company from my fist contact.
    They are a very friendly and approachable team and the first time I have had gardeners actually listen to what I want and then do it!! I now have sunlight in my garden again.
    They cleaned up and took away all the waste, there was nothing left for me to do, but fill the bird bath with water.
    Claudette kept me up to date along the way via email and they were able to fit me in and complete the work much sooner than I had imagined would be possible for this busy time of year.
    I would have no problem recommending this company and would not hesitate to use their service again in the future.

    Having spent months trying to source non slip treads for our staircase via various builders and carpet professionals, Age UK recommended that we try Johnson Property Services. Their service has been superb.     I contacted JPS with an urgent request to replace the front door to my daughter's flat. Not only did they reply very promptly with a reasonable estimate but came the next day and finished the job professionally within a few hours. They were also very understanding and sensitive towards the vulnarability problems of our daughter who suffers from longterm mental health problems. I would highly recommend and would use their services again without hesitation

    I highly recommend the services of JPS. I have used them on 2 occasions for major works - bathroom remodel and kitchen/hallway painting. Both jobs were very reasonably priced and the works were completed efficiently and meticulously. They made sure I was completely satisfied with everything before the final sign off. They are also very pleasant to work with and willing to accommodate all requests. It was truly a pleasure working with the company.

    I ordered a shower room to be refurbished and an old water tank to be remove do from the roof of my house. The work came to several thousands of pounds. I selected this company via this website protect me from the very problems I have encountered. Despite what appeared to be a cordial relationship with Claudette the proprietor three months after the works were completed faults and damage were noted. Not all faults can be immediately noticed especially in areas not used frequently or where health issues may be an issue. Because of this delay and despite many broken promises made to me and to Age UK, to return to inspect the faults and damaged the company, failed to keep al the appointments they made. They did not tell me apologies for that failures and I was the one constantly trying to chase theme up to arrange new appointments. The company finally, and without inspecting the works, denied all responsibility. Age UK promised to arrange for an independant professional to inspect the problem and report. That never happened either. I am now left with a roof repair which allows water penetration, a shower door with a broken hinge (not even a year old and only ever used by myself) and shower tray which may or may not be allowing water ingress. I have had another company look at these works and they were disturbed that JPS had not even had the courtesy to inspect their own work post payment. Had I, as requested, completed an age UK satisfaction card as I was asked to as soon as I had paid, no doubt there would have been another positive review on this site. JPS property services pride themselves on quality workmanship but I have photographic evidence that contradict these claims and I would be happy to forward them to anyone. From charming to nasty - that was my experience of this company. While AGE U.K. tried to help I was dissapointed that because these problems had not been noticed immediately they seemed to think JPS were within their rights. I find this strange. Under the Sale of Goods act, goods need to be fit for purpose and that doesn't mean things falling to pieces within months or rain proofing that is found not to be rain proofed within three months. Most companies provide a years warrently. If you want to avoid the stress and financial hit I am taking I would say, read all reviews with a prince of salt and avoid.


    Johnson Property Services' Response:

    In response to ‘Ian’, what is a review? For the Client/Homeowner it is a route/ a way to let everyone, including the Company/Tradesperson, know the ‘likes’ or ‘dislikes’ regarding the completed works etc,.

    When the work is good/Client satisfied, everyone is happy. But when the work is Bad/Client not satisfied, then there will be some unhappiness on both sides and to get to the exact point of the unhappiness, there must/needs to be some clarity.

    1. We did renovate the leaking shower room and left the works in good order. The Client at this point was satisfied, there was no talk of breakages or bad workmanship. The satisfaction led to - during the shower room works- us being asked to re-decorate areas where there was water stain damage (this damage came from the existing leak in the shower room). After the shower room works, the decorations, we were asked to do works on the roof terrace. At no point during any of these works (over a 3 month period) was the word ‘bad workmanship’ mentioned.

    2. What and how do we measure what ‘the reasonable amount of time’ would be in advising the Builder that there is a fault? The reasonable amount of time for a Client to advise the Builder that there is a fault and in this case with the shower tray, is 1 week after the works are complete reasonable, is 1 month reasonable, is 3 months or possibly 5 -6 months reasonable! So would it be fair for the Client to state that there is a problem with the shower tray after 5 months and then expect the Builder to return , to remove, replace and re-fix a new shower tray? As well as that, the Client after about 8 – 9 months, the hinge on the shower door , we are advised that it is broken and once again, the Client wishes that this is fixed, replaced by the Builder.
    3. In this time that has passed, the Client using these items more or less every day and then stating that there is a fault is NOT reasonable. So because the Client is not happy with this reasoning and because, regarding the hinge it is not covered by the warranty, it is stated that our workmanship was bad etc.,

    In life, we need to be fair and reasonable and we believe we have been,
    We have and will continue to be dedicated to our Client/s and do our works in the best way possible.

    We thank the customer for his acknowledgement of our efforts to help. This complaint was monitored throughout by the Age UK London Business Directory. Despite the issue only being brought to our attention several months after the issue had occurred, we carried out a thorough assessment of the situation and submitted our findings to both parties. We did offer to send another trader to the service user, however we did not receive email confirmation from the service user before he had sought help elsewhere. The matter is now closed and we thank both parties for their cooperation with this issue.

    I cannot rate this company highly enough. From the depth of understanding of what was required to the friendliness, efficiency, no-nonsense, straightforward approach and just sheer hard work. Claudette and Julian cleared my elderly parents neglected and overgrown garden like a tornado. They have my full trust and I would not hesitate to use the company again.
