Age UK Camden provides a range of services for older people in Camden.
1. Support Brokerage Service
Age UK Camden’s Support brokerage service offers older people in Camden and their carers access to independent support in identifying their needs and/or developing an innovative, tailor made support plan.
2. Care Navigators
Care Navigators or health or social care professionals who provide a free, impartial and confidential service to older people in Camden. They are based within the GP practices in Camden and have specialist knowledge of services available to you. They can talk to you about your needs and concerns and together you can establish what support you may benefit from.
3. Information and Advice
Age UK Camden has a busy Information and Advice team for people over 55 who live in the Borough of Camden, and their friends, neighbours and carers.
4. Counselling, Group Therapy and Psychotherapy Service
A counselling relationship can provide valuable and confidential support at such times. Counselling provides a regular time in the week when you can begin to explore these feelings. Counselling provides a space where you can talk to someone about your concerns and emotional difficulties, someone trained and skilled in listening and helping you clarify your thoughts and feelings, which you may not be able to discuss with anyone else.
5. Dementia Services
Our Dementia Adviser staff member is based with the NHS Camden Memory Service (for people aged 65+) who works with a fantastic team of six committed Dementia Adviser volunteers. The volunteers, who range in age from their twenties to their eighties, are carefully selected, trained and supervised, and have a wide variety of experience, so they can give you the best possible advice
6. Resource Centres
Our friendly yet professional resource centres offer day services from Monday to Friday with social and interest-based activities. Activities provided include: guided reminiscence, art, darts, dancing, discussion groups, music, pottery, as well as daily hot lunches. We also offer limited transport to help you get to and from our centres.
We work with people with mild and moderate dementia, and provide meaningful contact with skilled, trained specialists, and cognitive stimulation, in a caring environment.
7. LGBT - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans
Opening Doors London provides a range of services for men and women aged 50 and over who identify as being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and/or Trans*. The service runs across the whole of London.
8. Digital Inclusion: Computer Training
Age UK Camden’s Computer Training project provides a supportive environment for people to access the IT training suite, with trained volunteers on hand to help.
9. Shopping Service
Do you struggle doing your grocery shopping? Our Shopping service can help.
Age UK Camden provides a service to help older people to take advantage of online shopping without having their own computer and without leaving their homes.
10. At Home Service
Age UK Camden (AUC) and Age UK Kensington & Chelsea (AUK&C) have joined forces to roll out the successful ‘At Home’ service throughout Camden.
The ‘At Home’ service offers a full range of care services tailored to the individual needs of older people, including help with washing, bathing and dressing, simple hair dressing, shopping, cleaning, meal preparation, and much more.

Age UK Camden runs two Good Neighbours Schemes, one covering the NW3 area, the other covering Chalk Farm and Primrose Hill.

12. Nail Cutting
Our nail care clinics are held at Henderson Court Resource Centre in Hampstead on Thursday mornings and at Kentish Town Health Centre in Kentish Town on Friday mornings, the hours of the clinics being 9:40am to 1pm.
We also hold a monthly clinic which runs on the last Thursday of every month at Kingsgate Resource Centre in Kilburn. At the moment we are not able to offer home visits.
13. Dementia Befriending Service
The dementia befriending service works with volunteer befrienders who visit socially isolated older people with dementia or memory impairement.

Age UK Camden Charity Shop
We have a flourishing charity shop on Leather Lane Market, run by two part time staff members, and a team of dedicated volunteers. The shop raises vital funds for the organisation, helping us to continue our work providing services for older people in need of support.

The Handyperson service offers practical help with minor safety adaptations, repairs and DIY-style tasks around the home. We aim to ensure that you are able to remain safe and secure within your own home.
The Handyperson Service Team is made up of staff and volunteers who work together to make a difference. All staff and volunteers are trustworthy, reliable and carry Age UK ID. They will also provide all the necessary tools to complete the job.

First Contact telephone helpline
First Contact provides information and advice for older people in Richmond upon Thames borough. We advise on a range of issues, from housing, money matters to finding a reputable local supplier.
A telephone advice line is open Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 4.00pm. The line is manned by an advisor, who can answer queries, provide information and advice, and signpost to other agencies

Housekeeping Services
Our Housekeeping Co-ordinator will carry out a home visit assessment to discuss the service and to work out a suitable plan to meet your housekeeping needs.
The range of housekeeping services we offer are:

The Housekeeping Co-ordinator will then arrange a suitable housekeeper who has been reference checked and has a DBS clearance.
All our housekeepers are highly skilled and reliable. We operate an intense induction and training programme for all housekeepers. In addition we only recruit staff with a high competency level and a drive for excellence.

Thinking of moving home? Not sure where to start? You will be pleased that help is at hand. We are working in partnership with Seamless Relocation to provide practical support to help you move home.
Whether to a smaller more manageable property, sheltered accomodation, care home, rented or owned property, we can take care of everything to help you move on.
New Nightingale Service
Our new Nightingale Service provides support to people over the age of 65 living in the Borough on their return home from hospital.
The type of support we offer is wide ranging and depends on the persons specific needs, but includes for example, shopping, help around the home with housework or handyperson jobs, assistance with managing money, such as welfare benefit checks and applying for grants for essential items.

Just Connect
This is a befriending service that aims to restore confidence, alleviate loneliness and encourage independence for socially isolated older adults. Regular weekly volunteer visits, usually for up to 6 months.
Footcare
We have developed a basic footcare service at a reasonable cost. This includes cutting nails, removal of hard skin and a soothing foot rub. This is done by a trained, very experienced nailcare technician.
The service is available in our dedicated treatment room every Tuesday and Wednesday at our hub. The cost is £21 for toenail cutting, plus an extra £5 for fingernail trimming. We provide a nail care kit for an extra £7, which is yours to bring along to each appointment.

Our hairdressing service offers you a visit to your home for your hair treatment. This very experienced hairdresser, who we have been in contact with for many years, can offer treatments for men and women – everything from a basic wash and cut, to a shampoo and set. All this is in the comfort of your own home.

We have been running computer training for older people (50+) in Waltham Forest for more than a decade. Our sessions range from absolute beginners to more advanced topics. We cover a range of technology subjects for PCs, Laptops, Tablets and Phones, to suit all interests and experience.

Our Handyperson service is here for when you need a shelf or curtain rail putting up, a dripping tap fixed, a toilet seat replacing or some flat-pack furniture putting together. We can help you feel safer in your home by installing key safes, door chains and window locks - and grab rails around the home so you can move around more confidently.
We also help in the garden – with basic tasks like mowing the lawn, weeding the flower beds and clipping the hedges.

We provide professional, friendly help with day-to-day jobs around the home. Maybe it’s light housework like vacuuming and mopping the floors, ironing shirts, changing the bedding, and a bit of dusting. You might want some help with letters or phone calls, someone to accompany you to an appointment, or help with light meal preparation.
